Big V Broncos | Round 6 Results
Champ Women defeated Southern Peninsula
A great road trip for the Champ Women travelling down to Rosebud to take on the sharks in an important game after a tough loss to McKinnon the week prior.
The Broncos set the match-up from within the first minutes of the game, quickly scoring 8-0 points and then winning the quarter 23-9. This really set up the entire match with the Sharks not able to get any really strong momentum to shake up the game.
Every time the Sharks got on a run, the Broncos were able to combat those runs and kept control of the game.
Hailey Wynd: 15 points, 7 rebounds
Paige Tawaf: 13 points, 8 rebounds
Youth Women defeated Sunbury
The Youth Women add another win to their list against Sunbury.
Missing a couple of experienced players this game (Georgia Keighran, Tash Overby playing Champ Women) meant that it was time for the younger Broncos to shine.
An even first half saw a 2 point lead (25-27) to the Jets before the Broncos stepped up the pressure in the third quarter to take an 8 point lead (48-40) into the final quarter.
The Jets got to within 4 points before the Broncos put together a few baskets from Chrissy T and Emma Povh to put out a 10 point lead with 7 minutes to go.
A 16 point win will give confidence to our strong young youth women as they sit 1st on the Terrill pool with 7 wins and 1 loss.
Chrissy Triantafyllopoulos: 19 points, 10 rebounds
Emma Povh: 13 points, 10 rebounds, 6 steals
Champ Men defeated by Chelsea
The Men also had a roadtrip, heading down to Chelsea and unfortunately took a 6 points loss.
It was a back and forth game throughout, with both teams trading baskets and momentum for the majority of the game.
The Broncos won the second (26-22) and the third (21-18) quarters but Chelsea were able to start well and finish off well with some crucial scores in the final minutes of the game.
Pete Puondak: 33 points, 8 rebounds
Joel Rimes: 16 points, 7 rebounds
Youth Men defeated by Camberwell
A tough loss for the Youth Men against one of the top teams in the YL1M comp.
Missing a couple of top players to Champ Men (Delly, Elijah & MJ) and Cooper to injury during the week was always going to be tough against a top team in Camberwell.
However, the Broncos kept up with Camberwell in the first quarter but dropped off in the second and third quarters, with the result going Camberwell’s way.
A great opportunity to play Youth for some of our U21s Junior Boys, with 3 players getting time on court and contributing throughout the game.
The Youth Men have a chance to get back on the winners list with a match this weekend against bottom placed Wyndham.
Derhyse Matautia: 14 points, 3 blocks
Jed Shennan: 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists
