2024 BigV Coach Announcement

The Hume City Lady Broncos have commenced their preparations for a more
competitive 2024 Big V season, starting with the appointment of their Championship
Women Division (CW) and Victorian Youth Championship Women (VYCW) coaches.

Club stalwart Brad Keighran has won the job of VYCW Coach on the back of Assistant
Coaching roles at the Big V CW level and his commendable contribution as the interim CW
Coach this year. In announcing the appointment, the Club’s Vice President Glen Milner said
“Brad’s familiarity with our VYCW playing group and junior Broncos program was a key
consideration in giving him the opportunity to maintain a strong competitive presence in
this development environment, especially with Big V’s February play in Youth tournament
to determine the composition of the VYCW and subordinate Youth League grades.”

The well respected and experienced Carey Papanicolau (Paps) will take the reins of the
CW team following a review of applicants for that role, with Milner noting that “Paps is a well
credentialed coach who has enjoyed coaching success at the senior mens and women
levels. After a 2023 season disrupted by the mid-season resignation of our CW coach, we
were looking to appoint someone with strong leadership skills and a proven record of
galvanising elite representative programs to realise their potential as genuine finals
contenders. Paps ticks all those boxes and we’re anticipating a consistently strong
competitive performance from our CW Lady Broncos in 2024.”

In responding to the appointment, Paps said “I’m excited to be part of a great organisation
and to be coaching at the State elite level again. I appreciate this opportunity the club is
giving me and I’m looking forward to getting started on the challenges ahead.
