BBA Covid Update
2nd September Update
Return to Basketball Update- 2 September, 2021
To all our valued Broadmeadows Basketball Association (BBA) partners and supporters, including our Junior Domestic Clubs, Senior Domestic teams, Junior Representative teams, Senior Representative teams, Program participants, Referees and Staff:
Due to Stage-4 lockdown being extended for a further 21 days, see below the following announcements regarding changes for the upcoming fortnight.
As per the announcement from Basketball Victoria, we remain under the RED-0 reactivation status. All programs, training and competitions will be postponed until at least Friday 23 September. The venue will also be closed during this time and office staff are working on limited hours.
Domestic Competitions
The intent is for both junior and senior domestic competitions to resume and complete the Winter season once we return to court. This may mean a delay of the start of the Summer season until mid-late November. Once a more clear return date is available we will formulate a calendar for the remainder of 2021.
Programs
All weekly programs including Aussie Hoops, Toddler Hoops, Sporting Schools will be cancelled until Term 4. Holiday programs for Week 1 (20-24 September) will also be cancelled.
Training
All VJBL and BigV training will be cancelled until Sunday 26 September. Your domestic club will advise regarding the resumption of junior domestic training.
VJBL & BigV Competition
Both the VJBL and BigV seasons have been cancelled. Plans for tryouts and preseason will be announced once return dates are known.
Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium Office
Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium courts and office will be closed for casual shooting and all other activities until Friday 24 September. Please note that staff are also now working on limited hours.
August Update

regarding changes for the upcoming fortnight.

programs, training and competitions will be cancelled until at least Friday 3 September. The venue will also
be closed during this time and office staff are working on limited hours.
Domestic Competitions
Contingency plans for the remaining junior domestic season, finals and the start of the Summer Season are
currently being formulated for discussion with clubs next week.
All Senior domestic competitions will be cancelled for the below dates. Teams will be awarded a draw for
games, they will not be postponed or rescheduled. Fixtures will then continue as normal once return to
venues is permitted.
Sunday 22 & 29 August, Monday 23 & 30 August, Wednesday 25 August and 1 September.
Programs
All programs including Aussie Hoops, Toddler Hoops, Sporting Schools will be cancelled until Monday 6
September.
Training
All VJBL and BigV training will be cancelled until Sunday 5 September. Your domestic club will advise
regarding the resumption of junior domestic training.
VJBL & BigV Competition
VJBL games for Friday 20 & 27 August have been cancelled and will be awarded a draw. Alternative season
dates are currently before Associations for input and a decision expected to be communicated early next
week.
BigV games for the remainder of the season have been cancelled. Finals are proposed to be completed
from Thursday 9 – Sunday 12 September.
Further information on fixtures for both competitions will be communicated once known.
