Broadmeadows Basketball - Inclusive Association of the Year
Tuesday night bought about the annual Basketball Victoria Awards, with Broadmeadows Basketball and members bringing home a couple of fantastic achievement awards…
Val Wain & John Turner – 50 Year Service Awards
Patricia ‘Trish’ McKay – 25 Year Service Award
Val ended up stealing the show with a beautiful speech thanking her supporters and giving everyone a brief overview of her life in basketball. Caused some tears in the crowd.

Broadmeadows Basketball was recognised as Inclusive Basketball Association of the Year – our first time winning this Award.
“This Award recognises the contribution an Association has made towards the provision of diverse and inclusive programs and practices for participants with a disability and those from culturally and linguistically diverse, Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities. The selection committee will consider initiatives such as key strategic priority in planning, strong organisational partnerships, reach of targeted communities, providing a supportive and accessible environment, culturally specific programs, adaptability and a positive attitude, strength of commitment and internal capacity, all of which build a more inclusive community and greater social cooperation and cohesion.”
Thanks to the organisations we work with:
Hume City Council
Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY)
Count Me In Project
Brite
Reclink Australia Northern Metro Melbourne

Previously, we had only won 3 Awards, so this is very special and is an award that is highly regarded amongst the Basketball Victoria community.
