To all our valued Broadmeadows Basketball Association (BBA) partners and supporters, including our Junior Domestic Clubs, Senior Domestic teams, Junior Representative teams, Senior Representative teams, Program participants, Referees and Staff:
With the conclusion of the Stage-4 lockdown, please note that we will return to the Basketball Victoria ‘Red-10’ status in Metropolitan Melbourne as of Friday 11 June.
While a step in the right direction this does not allow us to return to indoor sport, limited to groups of 10 people outdoors only.
Under current restrictions, domestic competitions cannot be conducted.
Is it hoped that further easing of restrictions next week will allow indoor sport and capacity limits in venues will be at a level that allows us to use all court inside venues. However, the likely return to ‘Orange-50’ status would mean a limit on spectators and the need for changeover between games as with our return last December.
Junior Domestic- No games on Saturday 12 June as planned due to Queens Birthday Weekend.
Senior Domestic- Games for Sunday 13th, Monday 14th and Wednesday 16th June will be cancelled.
As there are still many unknowns, we cannot commit to a return to competition date at this stage. We will monitor the situation and plan to release an update on competitions for next weekend by midday Thursday 17 June. Fixtures will not be published until this time.
All programs including Aussie Hoops, Toddler Hoops, Sporting Schools and Inclusion programs continue to be postponed. We hope that with a return to indoor sport these can return from Monday 21 June.
All VJBL and BigV training is limited to outdoor groups of 10 participants only (plus coaches). Coaches will receive more information shortly with further guidelines and hygiene protocols.
Games for Friday 11 June have been cancelled. We await further advice from Basketball Victoria on games scheduled for Friday 18 June.
There are no games scheduled this weekend due to the Queens Birthday Weekend break. We await further advice from Basketball Victoria on games scheduled for 19th & 20th June.
Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium & Office
Due to Hume City Council requirements, Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium courts and office remain closed at this time.
Thank you all once again for your patience and cooperation. We hope for further easing of restrictions to come next week.
