Domestic Returning with Restrictions
Domestic starting this Saturday with heavy restrictions
Please note the below restrictions in place, which are required to conduct competitions this weekend. We understand that these will cause inconvenience for some, however if we want to ‘get kids back on court’ this is what it takes.
Basketball Victoria have put in place a ’50 person maximum’ limit for courts, however this is conditional on a 1 person per 4sqm density limit in ‘usable space’ outside of the playing area. Many of our junior domestic courts do not have the required space to accomodate any more than the players, coaches and referees. In the interest of clarity and fairness, the same restrictions need to be applied to all courts and teams across the next 2 weeks.
Other Associations may have different guidelines based on their individual venues. VJBL have moved several games this Friday from courts that do not have the ‘usable space’ for 50 people to other venues to allow 1 spectator per player. We do not have any alternate venues to do this for junior domestic competition.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. It is at least 2 weeks until restrictions are eased so the choice was to hold competitions within these guidelines or continue to postpone.
