Ruby Anniversary 40th Year Celebrations – Broadmeadows Basketball

Ruby Anniversary – Firenze Receptions.

Saturday night (27/10) was a fantastic evening bringing together all that has happened throughout the Broadmeadows Basketball Association over the last 40 Years.

Life Members, past players, the Mayor of Hume, Junior Domestic Clubs and representatives of Basketball Victoria and Big V were in attendance for the event.

Several members of Junior Domestic Clubs were awarded and presented with Service Awards for 5, 10, 15 and 20+ years of volunteer service to the Broadmeadows Basketball Community.

There was also a main focus on the time period of 2001-2010, in which 4 championships were won by the Women (3) and the Men (1), with the ‘Teams of the Decade” being presented:

Team of the Decade Women:

Lauren Bennett, Kellie Burbridge, Belinda Campbell, Tenille Cann, Anna Crosswhite, Ellie McLean, Elyse Penaluna, Naomi Pedro, Lisa Troyahn, Sharin Milner (Captain), Glen Milner (Coach).

Team of the Decade Men:

Randy Anderson, Brad Collins, Eddie Cox, Stuart Dorrington, Russell McIntosh, Brad Phelan, Greg Smith, Mike Spears, Erik Wikström, Shane Smith (Captain), Kevin Fleming (Coach).

The Broadmeadows Basketball ‘Wall of Fame’ inductees were also announced and presented:

Glen Milner, Sharin Milner, Shane Smith.

Overall, it was a fantastic night and a great way to acknowledge and celebrate 40 Years of Broadmeadows Basketball.
