The Hume City Broncos Youth League Women were looking to back up their impressive opening round win against Wyndham when they travelled down the road to Coburg to take on the Giants in Round 2.

Georgia Keighran had an outstanding opening term, scoring 13 points to help give the visitors a one-point lead at the first break. The second quarter was an even contest, with the Giants holding a single-digit lead for much of it. Keighran was again in top form, adding nine more points as the Broncos narrowly trailed at the half.

Coburg maintained the slight advantage in the third term, pushing the lead out to double-digits late in the quarter. Reyana Guzel chipped in with eight points.

With the Broncos facing an eight-point deficit heading into the last quarter, shots from both sides were going up, but not in. There were just three points scored by both teams in the first five minutes, and Coburg’s lead soon got out to double-figures again. The Broncos managed just five points for the quarter, while Coburg scored 10, resulting in a 76-63 victory for the home side.
